That’ true, charging anyone with murder in a war won’t be a priority, so long as your side’s propaganda is making enough noise about the other side doing it.. Ukraine would be the prime example of the moment, although 4years on there is a bored weariness about either side reporting it.
Its only countries that have soldiers killing people in a not-war that have the luxury of making political capital out of it. Like Australia suddenly deciding a Victoria Cross winner, the medal for the bravest of the brave, the greatest of the great, actually shot civilians in Afghanistan. He was probably just as mystified as to why he was there as any soldier in any not-war in history, but there were plenty of chances of him getting killed anyway. Its not that Australia was threatened in any shape or form, and it was never declared a war, so the West wasn’t really fighting anyone.

So true on all accounts. I remember stories of allied soldiers being told “get rid of them” in regards of enemy prisioners. Now you can make the argument that the Axis forces executed Allied prisoners all the time, and might have set off a back and forth climate. But it happens in every war and I really just wanted to touch on soldiers being compromised by other unit’s practices.
