Looks like both sides in Ukraine are reading ‘The 388th’, Ukraine has used recon/sabotage units for causing trouble on the Russian border, and Russia uses them now for advancing. Armoured columns are too vulnerable in the drone age, so they infiltrate small groups behind Ukrainian lines and cause mayhem and havoc as they start advancing over the front.

I originally created a story called Gen-Eg in the 90’s. I created a comic (unfinished), and two novels under the same series name. The 388th was a unit in those stories. The webcomic comes directly from that pervious work, (so did Capt Ore and the 187th). When I created the storyline, I tried to envision the worst world war since WW1. Unfortunatly the war in Ukraine has surpassed my fiction. We are witnessing a leap in military science; drones have become so dominate, that it has passed old school planning and theory of warfare. Legions of tanks, and armor are now countered by realative cheap armed drones. Countries worldwide are now investing in drones. look at the fighting in Cambodia. Poorer countries can level the advantage, bigger, richer countries have. China better rethink about Taiwan. In “Violence of action” I wanted to explore the traditional aspect of Calvary, how they could be used in this conflict. It seems like both sides have taken calvary tactics and used drones instead.
