Watching Ukraine invade Russia? The rules of modern warfare being re-written or distorted or added to… You’d think the poor bastards involved would have had enough by now, but the higher-ups want to keep it going. Both sides have tried the ‘Rush in and capture territory you can’t hold’ technique and it hasn’t worked for either of them!
I think sometimes, it’s about payback or anger. Pretty sure some of the troops moving into Russia are looking to “take it” to the Russians on their own soil. Three years of defending, and now they are invading… that’s crazy. I have no idea what the long term plan is, to hold that ground? That would be wild, and send panic through the civilians of Russia (at least the ones that find out what really is happening). It will draw troops and resources to the region, which might be the goal. I guess we’ll see. Every war rewrites military think; this one has probably changed more, than anything else since WW2.
